Character History

On a quiet evening on the Thames River, December 12, 2010, St. Thomas' Hospital was filled with dim lights and the sound of emergency footsteps. But in delivery room number seventeen, the only sound was the exhausted breathing of a single woman and the soft cry of a newborn baby.
"You are... my everything, Juliet..." Clara Ophelia murmured softly. She hugged her baby to her chest and kissed her tiny, still-sweaty forehead with a heart that was beating too fast for words.
Born into the quiet winter breeze, Juliet seemed to be aware of the warm embrace from the first second. Her cry was soft and unprovoked. She didn't cry for long, only for a few moments before closing her eyes again as if she knew she was safe.
From the time she was just one year old, Juliet showed a calmness and caution rare in a young child. She didn't like toys that were loud or flashy, but she loved a single soft grey duck doll, which she often held close to her chest. And she likes to sit and watch the snow falling from the window on a winter's day. She will reach out her small hand to touch the glass and whisper to herself softly and peacefully.
"Mother... is snow like a quiet sound?"
"Yes, my daughter... quiet, but powerful," Clara replied, gently stroking her daughter's head.
Juliet grew up surrounded by the love and stability of her mother. She did not have a father by her side, but she never felt that she lacked anything. Clara raised her daughter firmly and gently. She taught her daughter to be strong, but she did not suppress her vulnerability. And Juliet seemed to absorb everything quietly in her heart.
